A Company for Artists by Artists.

A few little known things about producing theater...

$10 – A Prop in the Hand
…is worth two in the bush? From an old office telephone to champagne flutes and fake flowers,
our props are smartly begged, borrowed or bought on the cheap.

$25 – In My Own Little Corner, in My Own Little World
This is the average hourly rate for rehearsal spaces in New York these days and our average
production rehearses 40-60 hours. Every hour counts.

$50 – Dress Me Up in Your Love!
Whether it’s bought off the racks at the local thrift store or made from scratch by our brilliant
designers, the wardrobe’s the thing.

$100 – A little help?  A little help please?
Production assistants are invaluable—from setting props to assisting in rehearsals to firing
starter pistols for live sound effects. This helps cover a PA’s stipend.

$250 – Help an Actor Eat... or Get to Rehearsal... or Pay Rent... or…
Actors who work in opera theater are definitely in this for the love of their craft, not to rake in the
big bucks, still we could not do what we do without them.  OMRT prides itself in doing its best to
help artists grow, but more can be done.  OMRT would like to do even more for these hard-
working artists by modestly compensating them for the beautiful art they bestow upon your ears.

$500 – Play that Funky Music
Help us rent sound equipment, pay live musicians, and/or create sound effects and voice-overs.
Every one of those little (and big!) things you hear demand dollars.

$1,000 – Light Up Our Lives
Not every space has all of the lighting equipment that we need; this helps our lighting designer
get what he needs without getting him arrested for theft. You know. Again.

$1,500 – Get the Word Out
Shouting from the rooftops is free. Unfortunately, it’s not too effective when trying to spread the
word about opera -- trust us, we’ve tried. PR Reps are invaluable and chances are without ours,
you might not even be reading this!

$2,500 – A Whole New World
A great set not only serves the practical needs of a play and its actors but it is a thing of
transporting beauty. This helps our designer not worry about maxing out his credit card at the
hardware store!

$5,000 – Give a Show a Home (for a Week!)
Jonathan Larson wasn’t kidding when he penned the lyrics to Rent – and that was nearly 20
years ago and rents have only gotten higher.  A 99-seat theater that’s easily and safely
accessible can rent anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 per week.

$15,000 – Give a Show a Home (for a whole run!)
If one generous donor can cover the costs of 3 weeks of rental, we can almost guarantee that a
show can happen.  Rent is the highest budget line item; once it’s covered, the rest follows.

Did you
know?

Data collected from
95,000 attendees at
a range of arts
events reveal an
average spending of
$27.79 per person,
not including the
price of admission.
This spending
generates an
estimated $103.1
billion of valuable
revenue annually for
local merchants and
their communities.

Non-local audience

as much.

A thriving arts
