V. W. Smith (Executive Director & Co-Founder) is responsible for
putting Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre's overall mission into
action. Mr. Smith brings management experience with several large
national corporations as well as artistic experience as a performer, an
instrumentalist and backstage in set construction and lighting design.
Mr. Smith has helped charter non-profit theater companies in New
York City, Denver and the New Orleans metro area. He has also
been adviser to several other NYC organizations on incorporation
and obtaining their non-profit status.
As bass Bryce Smith, he has been seen as a soloist at Carnegie Hall
and as a resident artist with Opera Colorado, Central City Opera,
Dicapo Opera Theatre, Natchez Festival of Music and Tulane
Summer Lyric Theatre in New Orleans. His performances of roles
such as Don Giovanni, the four villains in Les Contes d'Hoffmann
and Mephisofeles in Faust have earned him great acclaim.
Ubaldo Feliciano-Hernandez (Artistic Director) brings extensive artistic, administrative and
graphic design experience to the company having trained at The Academy of Vocal Arts and
worked several seasons on marketing campaigns for Opera de Puerto Rico. Mr. Feliciano has
been active in the opera world since a very early age and has received acclaim for his work
onstage in roles such as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and Hoffman in Les Contes d'Hoffmann.
His reputation for first-rate musical accomplishments and his knowledge of varied performance
techniques and a multitude musical styles will challenge Opera Manhattan to achieve the highest
level of musical excellence.
Sandra Mercado (Chief Financial Officer & Controller) holds a BA in Business Administration
from the University of Puerto Rico she has worked as an Editorial Manager and Project Manager
for several distinguished publishing companies in New York City bringing much needed skills in
problem solving and project management to help lead OMRT's future endeavors.
Rebecca Hicks (Director of Education & Outreach) will be in charge of Opera Manhattan's
Studio Ensemble and Emerging Artist Programs. She will be charged with planning and
facilitating programs to serve young artists at both early and more advanced stages of their
artistic development.
David Browning (General Director) is responsible for the day-to-
day operations of Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre. He brings a
unique combination of 20 years in the financial communications
industry with an education and experience as an opera singer. His
work as a freelance writer and blogger about opera has been quoted
by artist managers and artists in publicity materials and web sites.
He has worked as freelance publicist for music groups including
Positive Music, a chamber music organization dedicated to artists
whose lives have been affected by HIV, and WolfWerks, a group
dedicated to making the works of Hugo Wolf better known. He
worked on Opera Manhattan's PR and communications team before
assuming the duties of General Director.
