Mission

Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre, Inc. is

  • a nonprofit organization based in New York City that serves the residents
and visitors of the tri-state area.

  • dedicated to carrying on the tradition of opera by offering productions of
the highest possible quality and to strengthening the region’s cultural and
artistic community through collaborations with a diverse range of arts
    organizations.

  • endeavors to provide a nurturing environment for emerging artists and to
supply numerous opportunities for all artists to learn, develop and perfect
    their craft.

  • strives to make opera more easily accessible to the general public and to
develop, educate and expose non-traditional audiences of all ages to this
art form through educational and out-reach programs, especially those
    serving children and young adults.

The Vision

Opera, ultimately, should embrace the collaboration of all the arts.  Therefore,
Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre, Inc. envisions:

  • an interdisciplinary hub of learning and development for artists who are
ready to embark upon professional careers but may not have been
afforded opportunities by other companies to grow artistically.

  • strives to provide opportunities to sing at no cost for the selected
    participants.

  • hopes to provide an environment in which artists can live, work, learn,
perform and educate the public about opera – tirelessly working toward a
future where all artists are accorded respect, dignity and the opportunity to
achieve their full potential free from stigma and prejudice.

What’s happening with Opera Manhattan?

OMRT will be mounting The One-Act Opera Festival, July 31st to August 2nd,
including one act operas written by Mozart, Wolf-Ferrari and Menotti.

An abridged version of Verdi’s
La Traviata will tread the boards from August 7th
to 9th as a fully-staged production with piano.

These productions will be OMRT’s debut performances in residence at the
Roy Arias Studios and Theatres, an Off-Broadway theater one block from Times
Square.

Opera Manhattan’s Emerging Artist and Studio Ensemble Programs benefit from
on-going classes and coachings which are hosted by industry professionals
and master teachers.  Many of these individuals volunteer their time and
services because of their belief in supporting and nurturing young talent.  If you
would like to volunteer your time to this worthwhile endeavor, please email
