Shannon Capogreco (Mezzo-Soprano) is new to
Manhattan from the Second City.

After a study year abroad for sculpture in Florence, Italy, she began
vocal studies with Richard Best (Bass), during her graduate
program at Southern Illinois University.  She then moved to Chicago
and continued to study privately with her current teacher,
Mezzo-Soprano,Velia Botti.

Shannon is a Concerto Competition winner (SIUC), has been an
apprentice for Sarasota Opera Organization.  In Chicago, she
performed with the University of Chicago, the Botti Opera
Showcase and the Summer Chamber Orchestra at the University of
Chicago.  In 2006, She participated as a semi-finalist in the IX
Consurso Internacional Canto Lirico, where Maestro Carlos
Aransay described her voice as "beautiful, warm and luscious."  
Shannon joined the resident artist program at Dicapo Opera
Theatre for their 2007-2008 season, which is what brought her to
New York.

This season, Ms. Capogreco returns to Dicapo Opera to sing the title
role in Rossini's
La Cenorentola and as Judith in OMRT's production
of
Bluebeard's Castle.
