

Selena Moretz (Mezzo-Soprano) has been praised by
Wendy Hillhouse as being “the complete mezzo-soprano
package with a gorgeous voice”. Ms. Moretz began her operatic
journey at The Boston Conservatory. While studying there, Selena
enjoyed performing the roles of Florence Pike in Albert Herring, Sor
Andrea in With Blood, With Ink, Sotopenre in Akhnaten, and the
Duchess in the Gondoliers. Since graduating, Ms. Moretz attended
the prestigious program, The International Institute for Vocal Arts in
Chiari, Italy. While attending IIVA, Selena performed Speranza in L’
Orfeo and sang portions of Orfeo from Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice
and Marcellina from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. Most recently,
Ms. Moretz has moved to New York City, where she is delighted to
be living. In New York City, Selena has performed Venus in
Orpheus in the Underworld with Bronx Opera, and Samantha in The
Ballad of Baby Doe with Chelsea Opera.
Currently, Ms. Moretz is a resident artist with the Dicapo Opera
Theater where she will be singing the role of Agnes the Digger in
the New York premiere of Tobias Picker’s Fantastic Mr. Fox and the
role of the Narrator in Vittorio Giannini’s Beauty in the Beast. Other
memorable performances of Selena’s include The Third Lady in Die
Zauberflöte, Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance, Imelda in La Battaglia
di Legnano, Queen Henrietta in I Puritani, Mistress of the Novices in
Suor Angelica, Peep-bo in The Mikado, and Orlofsky in Die
Fledermaus. Selena is delighted to be involved with Opera
Manhattan and will be singing the role of Marthe Schwerlein in their
production of Faust this season.
