

Leslie Tay (Tenor) has performed in opera, oratorio,
musical theater, theater, a cappella and choral music. His
operatic roles include “Don Basilio” and “Don Curzio” in The
Marriage of Figaro with the Brooklyn Repertory Opera, “King
Kaspar” (cover) in Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Eastern
Festival Opera, “Boy 1” in Trouble in Tahiti and “Witch” in Hansel
and Gretel with the Singapore Lyric Opera and “Bastien” in
Bastien und Bastienne with Artyfakt (Singapore). With the
Manhattan School of Music, he sang in its productions of
Griffelkin (Foss) and Street Scene and is an active member of
both its Baroque Aria and Contemporary Opera Ensembles.
Leslie’s interest in contemporary opera has seen him in the role
of “Thaddeus Davenant” in Gregg Wramage’s Death in Summer
and as the “Director” in Tarik O’ Regan’s Heart of Darkness in a
workshop with director Jonathan Miller. He has sung the tenor
solo in Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël and has participated in
masterclasses with Rudolf Knoll, Krisztina Laki, Andrew Parrott and
Rachelle Gerodias.
His non-operatic performances include creating new roles in
musicals written by Singaporean playwright, Stella Kon and the
role of “Banquo” in Shakespeare’s Macbeth with the Singapore
Repertory Theatre.
Leslie is currently pursuing graduate studies at the Manhattan
School of Music in the studio of Arthur Levy. Upcoming
performances include his Opera Manhattan debut as “Alfred” in
Die Fledermaus, “Sex Guru/Therapist” in Jack Perla’s Love/Hate,
“Chimney-Man” in B. Allen Schulz’s Gargoyle Garden with
Manhattan School of Music and “Beppe” in I Pagliacci with
Eastern Festival Opera.
