John Rodger (Tenor) possesses a 'full lyric tenor voice of
considerable size' and is developing into a promising young artist.
A native of Miami Beach, Florida, his developing repertoire includes
the title role in
Don Carlos(cover) and Cavaradossi(cover) in Tosca
(Sarasota Opera), Claudio(cover) in Wagner's
Das Liebesverbot
(Glimmerglass Opera), Manrico in
Il Trovatore (Taconic Opera),
Calaf(cover) and Pong in
Turandot (Opera North), Alfredo in La
Traviata
(Miami Lyric Opera), the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto (Opera
Western Reserve and Indiana University), Leandro in Busoni's
Arlecchino (Indiana University), Rodolfo in La Bohème (Canti di Reina),
Edgardo in
Lucia di Lammermoor (Riuniti Opera), and Ruggiero in La
Rondine
(Riuniti Opera).  He has performed the tenor solo in oratorio
and choral works of Verdi (
Requiem), Beethoven (Symphony No. 9),
Mozart (
Requiem, Mass in C minor, and Vesperae Solennes de
Confessore
), Brahms (Zigeunerlieder), Haydn (St. Nicholas Mass, Mass
in Time of War
), and Handel (Messiah).  

Mr. Rodger was a member of the Young Artists Program at Opera North
in New Hampshire in 2007 and the Young American Artists Program at
Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, New York in 2008.  In 2009 he
will cover Cavaradossi in
Tosca and the title role in Don Carlos with
Sarasota Opera as a member of the Studio Artists program, he will sing
Luigi in
Il Tabarro with Taconic Opera in Westchester, New York, he will
perform the tenor solo in Mozart's
Vesperae solemnes de confessore
at Carnegie Hall with MidAmerica Productions, and he will return to the
Young American Artists Program at Glimmerglass Opera in the summer
of 2009 where he will sing the role of Gastone and cover Alfredo in
La
Traviata
.   Mr. Rodger recently 'let out a glorious, full-throated
performance' of Manrico in
Il Trovatore with Taconic Opera, and his
portrayal of the Duke of Mantua in
Rigoletto with Opera Western
