Daniel Klein (Baritone)  deftly captured the iconic
psychological terror of Verdi’s Iago at Taconic Opera and yet
fearlessly exposed the intimate, plaintive introspection of John Proctor
at IVAI Tel Aviv. While he made his Avery Fisher debut singing the
baritone solo in Beethoven’s
9th Symphony, his hilarious Dick Deadeye
at Lyric Opera San Diego was born of an exciting comedic freedom.
The facility with which Mr. Klein moves between the demands of Verdi,
Mozart, baroque works, and experimental modern opera, coupled
with his ability to infuse each role with perceptive intelligence, color,
and character, has solidified him as one of opera’s most dynamic
emerging talents.

Mr. Klein’s work has been enthusiastically received: In 2008 he joined
the Evelyn Lear and Tom Stewart Emerging Singers Program of the
Wagner Society of D.C. Emerging Singers and appeared their annual
concert at the German Consulate in Washington D.C., he has been
recognized with The Arthur & Mae Orvis Award at the Liederkranz
Foundations Opera Competition in 2008 and was a Finalist at the
Violetta DuPont Opera at Florham Competition.  He is a Hagedorn
Foundation Grant recipient, as well.  Recent notices have remarked
that Mr. Klein is “incredibly talented…,” with a “rich…” voice that “has
all the earmarks of a major career….”

A Carnegie Mellon University graduate, Daniel Klein holds a Masters of
Music from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, where he
was named the Outstanding Graduate of The Vocal Department.  Mr.
Klein has studied on scholarship at the International Opera Alliance
Workshops and the International Vocal Arts Institute.  His private
teachers and mentors have included Jerome Hines, Sherill Milnes,
Evelyn Lear, William Hicks, Judith Oas Nataluuci, Joan Dornemann,
Martina Arroyo, William Vendice and Carlo Bergonzi.  For more
