Brett Kroeger (Soprano) a student of Bill Schuman, joined
the Dicapo Resident Artist program in March of 2006, and since then
has appeared as Julie in
The Dangerous Liaisons, Sylviane in The
Merry Widow
and premier novice in Suor Angelica. She appeared as
Zelmi, Madame F and Amazon 3 in the Absolute Ensemble’s U.S.
premier of Daniel Schnyder’s
Casanova  in New York City at the end of
2005.  Other 2005 performances included solo recitals in the municipal
summer festival of Forte dei Marmi, Italy, for the second successive
year, and in the summer festival of Pietrasanta, both in Tuscany. In
2004, in New York City, she gave a recital sponsored by the Region of
Lombardy and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, in the presence of a
visiting delegation led by the region’s governor and minister of culture.
She also performed in the world premier of Robert Cuckson’s
Cantata
on Acadian Texts
(composed in 1994) as a soloist with the Columbia
University Bach Society.  In the summer of 2003, she gave recitals in
Liguria, including one in the Festival Camogli in Musica 2003 of the
Gruppo-Promozione Musicale Golfo Paradiso.  She has a master’s
degree in vocal performance from the Mannes College of Music,
where she appeared in the college’s Belle Epoque Festival, singing
songs by Hugo Wolf and received her bachelor’s in vocal
performance from Lawrence University.

Her singing has been broadcast on WNYC radio, and heard on the
soundtrack of PBS-TV’s The American Experience production,
Around
the World in 72 Days
.

Ms. Kroeger has participated, as both student and performer, in
summer music programs and festivals, such as the University of Miami
School of Music Summer in Salzburg, The Spoleto Arts Symposium in
Italy, and the Chautauqua School of Music Summer Program.  For the
2008-2009 Season, Ms. Kroger joins Opera Manhattan in Gounod's
Faust as Marguerite.
