

Amy Rood (Lyric Soprano) is a native of Hallstead,
Pennsylvania, and is new to New York City. Her opera roles include
Countess Almaviva in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Rosalinde in Die
Fledermaus, La Suora Dolcina in Suor Angelica and Laurie in Copland’s
The Tenderland. Ms. Rood's music theatre roles include Philia in
Sondheim’s A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Peggy
and Joanne in Schwartz’s Godspell and Martha in Hackett’s Seven
Brides for Seven Brothers. A frequent soloist with The Front Royal
Oratorio Society, Ms. Rood has performed the soprano solos in Handel’
s Messiah, Fauré’s Requiem and Vivaldi’s Gloria.
Ms. Rood was a state winner in the 2006 National Association of
Teachers of Singing competition. In March 2006 she performed with
the Shenandoah University Symphony Orchestra as a student soloist
competition winner. Amy toured as a soloist with the Shenandoah
University Conservatory Choir under the direction of Robert Shafer
throughout various parts of Germany and France and was an active
member and soloist of both the Conservatory and Chamber Choir. She
has performed several major works with the Grammy Award winning
Washington Chorus and The National Symphony Orchestra at the John
F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.
Ms. Rood is a graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory. She received a
Masters in Vocal Performance, a Bachelors in Music Therapy and a
performance certificate. A Board Certified Music Therapist, Amy has
applied these skills while working with the terminally ill, elderly,
preschool age children and children with cancer and blood disorders.
This Season, Ms. Rood can be heard performing the role of Violetta in
La Traviata with Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre. For more
